Coronary MRI
Contact: Dr. Axel Bornstedt
Objective:
- To etablish a fast and reliable MRI measurement of the coronary artery system with a strong focus on the quantification and characterization of atherosclerotic plaques.
- To establish imaging means for the visualization of the coronary venous system.
Examples:
Rapid Imaging of the coronary vasculature Example shows 3D whole-heart coronary angiograms with two-dimensioanl accelerated parallel imaging (SF = parallel imaging factor)
Direct visualization of the coronary artery wall Example shows an angiogram of the right coronary artery (left), its vessel wall in longitudinal (center) and axial orientation (right).
Visualization of coronary chronic total occlusion (CTO) X-ray shows totoal occlusion of the right coronary artery (left). In MRI, the course of the vessel can be identified by means of non-contrast enhaned imaging.
Coronary vein imaging Example shows a contrast agent enhanced depiction of the coronary venous system (GCV: great cardiac vein; LV: lateral vein; CS: coronay sinus; PV: posterior vein). |
