Research Interest

With advances in genomics and sophisticated in vivo and in vitro methods, our understanding of the molecular mechanisms of hematopoietic malignancies has significantly improved albeit not fully understood. Recent work by The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) on Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) looked at gene expression, genomic alterations and epigenetic changes by using microarray and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) techniques. We are primarily interested in dissecting such large scale high throughput data of normal and malignant hematopoiesis to link genetic and epigenetic aberrations to clinical and molecular readouts. We are currently using both public and in-house generated microarray and next generation sequencing data to meet our goals. We have setup efficient bioinformatics pipelines that interface functional data with genomics and epigenomics dataset. Additionally, statistical models for class prediction and classification of patient samples based on high throughput data are also of significant interest.
