Project description
The Braunschweig Child Protection Platform provides a central online portal that is accessible at any time, offering comprehensive and consolidated information on child protection topics. It is designed for professionals from various disciplines, interested citizens, and individuals directly affected.
Within this platform, the most important contact points and resources related to child protection are clearly organized. In addition, users will find up-to-date news, announcements, and offerings on child protection issues – with a particular focus on the Braunschweig and Lower Saxony region.
The platform also offers two free, flexible online courses:
- “Basic Knowledge of Child Protection for Professionals Bound by Confidentiality”, in accordance with § 4 KKG, approx. 40 hours
- “Child Protection in Daycare Centers”, aimed at early childhood education professionals, approx. 9 hours
Effective child protection requires all stakeholders to act with confidence. To establish a shared understanding and strengthen awareness and expertise in child protection, the platform aims to serve as an information and training hub for professionals, citizens, and those affected. This initiative helps improve collaboration among all actors and ensures better protection for children and adolescents.
The online course has a modular structure and comprises around 40 hours of background information on child protection and the various forms of abuse, specific steps to take in (suspected) cases and legal principles. All professionals are obliged to protect children and young people from violence, abuse and neglect. Nevertheless, in every case, a balance must be struck between the duty of confidentiality and the duty to protect the welfare of the child.
Qualified child protection requires all those involved to be confident in their actions. In order to establish a "common language" for child protection and thus increase awareness and expertise in child protection among all stakeholders and better protect children and young people, the Braunschweig Child Protection Platform is being established as an information and training platform for professionals from various disciplines, interested citizens and those affected.
