Translational Shock Research

Our team studies how traumatic-hemorrhagic shock reprograms the immune response and drives multiple organ failure. We combine clinically relevant experimental models with patient-derived samples to decode early danger signaling, complement activation and cellular dysfunction across organs. Our goal is to identify biomarkers and develop targeted therapies that prevent organ failure and improve survival after severe injury.

Translational Sepsis Research 

To tackle the detrimental complications of sepsis, our team focuses on understanding the role of innate defence systems and organ crosstalk in various sepsis models. We also strive to apply these findings to the clinical setting. A key area of interest lies in the real-time monitoring of the immune response and subsequent targeted modulation, including the activation of complement products, to counteract the intricate mechanisms involved in sepsis. Thereby, we anticipate enhancing organ function and improving clinical outcomes in the future.
