Operations on the liver and bile ducts

We challenge the limits of medicine every day to offer you the best possible treatment for diseases of the liver and bile ducts. Complex liver operations are a particular focus of our clinic.

Liver and biliary tract diseases

Liver and bile duct diseases can have many causes - from benign changes to malignant tumours.

The 3 most common liver diseases that we treat:

Liver and bile tissue tumours can often be cured by liver surgery - but this requires a great deal of experience and special expertise.

Every liver has a unique structure.

There are different functional lobules (segments and subsegments) in the liver.

This results in well over 50 surgical procedures that can cause major losses of healthy liver tissue.

Currently, liver operations in Germany are predominantly performed using a large abdominal incision. Minimally invasive procedures (robotic or laparoscopic) are used in less than 22% of cases.

Our OP planning

When planning the operation, we therefore examine your liver architecture in detail and advise you individually.

In this way, we avoid unnecessary loss of healthy liver tissue and protect your liver function with our personalised surgical technique.

Our surgical technique

For liver operations, we mainly use minimally invasive surgical techniques with the surgical robot (robotic) and the keyhole method (laparoscopic).

Minimally invasive operations are often possible despite previous open liver surgery and contribute to a rapid recovery.

In the case of a shrunken liver (liver cirrhosis) with liver cancer, minimally invasive surgery reduces the occurrence of complications.

Robotics has advantages in terms of precision, especially in complex liver surgery.

Our research

In addition to patient care, we are committed to research and science. We conduct research for you in order to apply gentle, innovative and effective surgical procedures.
