Information event for patients with oncological diseases, their relatives and interested parties

On Thursday, 17 July, the experts from the Centre for Personalised Medicine Ulm (ZPMU) invited patients, relatives and interested parties to an information day at Ulm University Hospital (UKU).
Prof. Dr Thomas Seufferlein, Medical Director of the Department of Internal Medicine I at the UKU and spokesperson for the centre, opened the event with a brief presentation of the care offered by the ZPM Ulm. In addition, Prof. Dr Katja Lotz, DHBW Heilbronn, gave a guest lecture on the possibilities and limitations of personalised nutrition concepts in cancer therapy.
Patient catering in oncology clinics was one of the topics discussed with lively participation from the audience. It was discussed that the provision of meals to patients is often decoupled from the area of responsibility of the individual clinics for economic reasons and at the same time it was stated that more importance must be attached to personalised nutritional concepts as a supporting component of therapy. The current state of scientific knowledge on personalised nutrition was also reported on.
Afterwards, the visitors were divided into two parallel workshops. PD Dr Rebecca Kassubek provided information on modern diagnostic and therapeutic concepts in neuro-oncology and Prof. Dr Dr Sabine Heublein on new examination and treatment options in oncological gynaecology.
The event ended with a visit to the exhibitors' stands, a varied snack and interesting discussions.

Information event for patients with immune-mediated diseases

The Centre for Personalised Medicine Ulm (ZPMU) - Division of Immune-Mediated Diseases (ZPMi) hosted a free information event for patients with chronic inflammatory diseases on 25 September 2024. Based on the realisation that chronic inflammatory diseases are often immunologically and also genetically related, dermatologists, gastroenterologists and rheumatologists have joined forces at the ZPMi at Ulm University Hospital to improve the long-term suffering of patients with immune disorders with a new interdisciplinary treatment approach.
The centre therefore offers an interdisciplinary consultation option for patients with immune-mediated diseases such as psoriasis, associated rheumatism or chronic inflammatory bowel disease.
After a short snack, four workshops started, which enabled patients to obtain even more specific information and ask specific questions.
