The Braunschweig child protection platform enables specialists from different disciplines, interested citizens and those affected access to specialist information, offers, current knowledge on child protection (especially for the Braunschweig area) at any time and in a collected form, as well as a flexible and free online training course on the subject of child protection for all persons with professional confidentiality nationwide.

The platform consists of the following:

• Information module

The information module is freely accessible and provides contacts for acute cases, a list of the child protection landscape of the city of Braunschweig as well as information, materials and news on the subject of child protection for all interested parties.

• Training module

The training module includes a free online course entitled “Basic knowledge of child protection for persons subject to confidentiality”, for which registration is required, as well as notes on other online courses on child protection.

The online course has a modular structure and, with a scope of around 40 hours, includes background information on child protection and the various forms of abuse, specific steps to take in (suspected) cases and the legal basis. All persons subject to confidentiality are obliged to protect children and young people from violence, abuse and neglect. Nevertheless, in each case, a balance must be struck between confidentiality and the protection mandate for the benefit of the child.

Qualified child protection requires everyone involved to act with certainty. In order to establish a "common language" for child protection and thus increase awareness and competence in matters of child protection among all actors and to better protect children and young people, the Braunschweig child protection platform is an information and training platform for specialists from different disciplines, interested citizens and those affected.
